For stay-at-home dads
If you are reading this, the chances are that you are slightly/somewhat/rabidly (delete as required) curious about the growing phenomenon that is ‘stay-at-home dads’ or else extremely lost.
This website is for the benefit of the former (stay-at-home dads), and although offered up for general consumption, we encourage dads, mums, sons and daughters, spouses, partners, friends and colleagues to get involved.
Whichever label describes you best, this site was created for anyone and everyone to share experiences, discuss news and views and network in general; to celebrate the trials and tribulations of being a stay-at-home dad.
What is a stay-at-home dad?
He is the primary caregiver of his children, who may or may not also work from home.
Many stay-at-home dads live in comparative isolation. stayathomedads.com.au is your platform to network with other S@HDs and like-minded individuals via our discussion forum. We also encourage members to sign up for their own personal blog in order to vocalise and share their experiences with others.
Stay-at-home-dads in Australia
Stay-at-home dads make up a very small portion of the Australian population. The Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates that less than 1% of fathers are stay-at-home dads, even though women make up 45% of the workforce. Because of this, there are few role models or resources that can help Australian fathers with the stay-at-home dad role.
stayathomedads.com.au aims to redress this.
